Mary Gump Obituary
Mary Ethel Gump, 92, of Bradner, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Bradner, to Lester B. and Helen L. (Scheele) St. Clair Sr. Mary married Howard L. Gump Sr. on April 25, 1950, in Bowling Green, and he preceded her in death March 6, 2003.
Mary is survived by her sons, Howard L. Gump Jr. of Toledo, Douglas E. (Brenda) Gump Sr. of Wayne, David E. (Karen) Gump of Fostoria, and Donald E. (Mary) Gump of Bowling Green; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Helen; loving husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Deanna Gump; siblings, James, Harry, Richard, Robert, Joseph, Kenneth, Lester Jr., David, Merlin "Milo," Clara Smith, Kathryn Orr, Margie Northam, and Molly Hartman; grandson, Douglas Gump Jr; and great-granddaughter, Jamie Gump.
Mary was a graduate of Bradner High School, worked as a custodian for Lakota Schools for 15 years, and enjoyed working as a housekeeper for many years. She was a member of the former House of Prayer Church in Bradner, where she was very involved as a Sunday School Teacher. She was always very strong in her faith. Mary had a special love for hummingbirds and enjoyed gardening, flowers and plants, puzzles, and crocheting. Her greatest love in life though was always her family.
Mary's family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to Mary.
Visitation for friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. Mary's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at the funeral home with her son, Pastor Howard Gump Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Bradner Cemetery immediately following.
Memorial donations may be made to Bradner Fire Department.
