Marvin Eugene Miller

Marvin Eugene Miller, 90, of Bay Village, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, in Northern Ohio, where he spent his spring and summer seasons.

He was born March 29, 1934, in Convoy to Theron Orestus Miller and Lovis Annie Coomer. His stepmother, Marjorie, helped raise him from his teenage years. Marvin graduated from Florida High School in Ohio in 1952 and later from Bowling Green State University in 1956. He later attended Texas A&M and the University of Michigan for his master's of meteorology.

Marvin met Ardath "Louanne" (1934-2022) at Bowling Green University and they married in 1959. Together, they lived in Michigan, Indiana, California, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida and Ohio.

Marvin served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960, and he was discharged as a captain. He later joined the National Weather Service and was initially assigned to Indianapolis.

Marvin is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Brenda) Miller of Callaway, Maryland and Trent (Michele) Miller of West Chicago, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Nathan Miller of Lexington Park, Maryland, Erika Miller of Greenville, North Carolina, Catherine Miller of Speedway, Indiana, Sarah and Michaela Miller of West Chicago, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Lee; and beloved wife, Louanne (Evans) of 62 years.

Marvin was a member of Bay Village United Methodist Church, where he worshipped and spent time with the Grey Eagles.

During high school, Marvin worked at Swift Ice Cream factory and grew to become an ice cream aficionado. He and Louanne enjoyed spending their winter months in Sun City Center, Florida. He also enjoyed golf, playing cards, and the occasional fish dinner. Marvin's passion for woodworking provided countless beds, desks and cabinets for his whole family.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St. Fostoria. A private family service will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where Marvin will be laid to rest.
