Marion L. Simpson

Marion L. Simpson, 88, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Richmond, Kentucky, to the Rev. J. Frank and Alberta (Steil) Simpson. He married Sandra Lee "Sandy" Potts on Jan. 20, 1957, and she preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2020.

Marion is survived by six daughters, Mona (Pete) DiCesare of Fostoria, Lana (Scot) Boyd of Fostoria, Lisa (Dave) Harding of Lima, Tonie (Robert) Ridenour of Fostoria, Maria (Bryan) Shrock of Marblehead, and Melinda (Shannon) Miller of Findlay; grandchildren, Joshua (Tiffany) Podach, Nathan (Erin) Podach, Lindsay (Aaron) Plummer, Kolin (Alissa) Smith, Hillary (Mark) Bittinger, Alyssa Miller, Adysson Miller, and Chris Ridenour; stepgrandchildren, Logan (fiancé Alyssa Clagg) Boyd and Gage (fiancé Taylor Ellis) Boyd; and great-grandchildren, Maxwell Podach, Sawyer Podach, Bella Podach, Greyson Plummer, Oliver Podach, Kaycen Smith, and Maddox Smith.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur W. Simpson; and granddaughter, Erica Ridenour.

Marion was a 1953 graduate of Fostoria High School and studied retail management at University of Dayton. He was co-owner with his wife, Sandy, of Bill's Men's and Boy's Wear, Inc., in Fostoria from 1960-1998. Marion loved his community and was an active member of Fostoria Lions Club where he served in many capacities over the years. He attended Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria and enjoyed playing the piano, racing, traveling, and was an avid boater and fisherman. He also enjoyed camping, golfing, and watching Ohio State sports, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland Indians. Most of all, Marion loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, until the time of Marion's funeral at 1 p.m. at MANN-HARE-HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. The Rev. Jerry Copeland will preside. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery.
