Marie (Hiser) Eichar
Marie (Hiser) Eichar, 90, of North Baltimore, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Briar Hill Nursing Home in North Baltimore.
She was born July 24, 1934, in the home on Cygnet Rd. near Risingsun where she was raised to Charles E. and Gertrue (Stump) Hiser. Marie graduated from Risingsun High School in 1952 and attended Findlay College.
She met David H. Eichar at Findlay College and they were married Dec. 20, 1953, at Risingsun Church of God, by his father, David L. Eichar, and her pastor, Norman Folk. They later divorced.
During their over 30 years of marriage, she served along with him at the following churches, Tedrow, Ottokee & Oak Shade Methodist Churches in Fulton County, North View Methodist, Main St., Findlay & Center Chapel Meth., South of Findlay Charge, Vanlue EUB church, Benton Ridge Circuit EUB (Trinity & Pleasant Hill) Hancock County, Westminster Methodist Allen County, South East of Lima, and Bairdstown and Mt. Herman United Methodist Charge, Wood County.
Marie's survivors include her son, Charles D. Eichar of North Baltimore; two daughters, Cheryl Anne (Steve) Newman of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Sheila J. (Ron) Tefft of Beloit, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Frank Simon of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren; seven bonus grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 bonus great-grandchildren; nine bonus great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marion (Marcine) Hiser and the Rev. Escil (Beulah) Hiser; sister, Nellie L. (Paul) Edinger; daughter-in-law, Judy Eichar; granddaughter, Amanda J. Simon; and daughter, Sandra J. Simon.
Marie was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and SConference from 1990-2016 and Financial Secretary and member of the UMW of which she was Pres. for several years. Marie served on the Dist.UMW team as Treasurer, Chair of Membership Nurture & Outreach, Shepardess, Vice President, and nominating committee.
Marie was a past member of Findlay STAR Chapter IAAP, where she had several offices. She was delegate to the annual conference, which took place all over the United States.
Marie also cherished the many friendships which developed from the Annette Baton and Drum Corps Mothers group, which lasted long after her children were no longer in Corp.
She retired in 1999 from Green Thumb Employment & Training Service as State Program Asst. Marie was bookkeeper and office manager for Davis Distributing Co. for over 48 years, continuing that position part-time while she was at Green Thumb and after her retirement until the death of Mr. Paul E. (Gene) Davis in 2012.
She worked in the bookkeeping dept. of H&M Bakery in Fremont, Central Rubber & Steel (now Centrex) in Findlay, and Findlay Plumbing Supply.
Marie's priority was her family. Marie traveled to Lamar, Colorado with her parents when she was seven to visit family. Then, after she was married, she traveled to Canada, Florida, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington state to visit her brothers and extended family several times. Marie was dedicated to her family and her Lord.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. and 12 p.m. until the time of Marie's celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at Risingsun First Church of God, 7968 US-23, Risingsun, Ohio, 43457. Burial will be at Graham Cemetery near Wayne. Immediately following, a bereavement dinner will take place back at Risingsun First Church of God.
