Manuel Leal Sr.

Manuel Leal Sr., 89, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 14, 2024, at his home, per his wishes, with his family and faithful dog, Chico.

He was born March 5, 1935, in Dilly, Texas, to Francisco and Mercedes (Castillo) Leal. He married Porfiria (Martinez) on April 10, 1954, in Napoleon, and she survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Tina Coppus of Fostoria, Anna (Jeff) Brown of Laurelville, and Margie (Tim) Burns of Fostoria; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; stepsiblings, Roberto Leal, Jose Leal, and Irma Leal; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Leal; and countless family members he helped raise along the way.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; four sons, Manuel Leal Jr., Recardo Leal, Tony Leal, and Danny Leal; brothers, Francisco and Jesse; and sister, Josefina "Fina" Casiano.

Manuel would always say that he led a life that was full. He retired from Union Carbide in Fostoria and very much was a homebody. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, getting lottery tickets, listening to Mexican music, and spending time with his dog, Chico. He was especially kindhearted and generous, always ready to give without question, asking nothing in return. Manuel had a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful caregiver to his entire family who were most important to him. Above all, he loved his wife Porfiria, spending time watching Cleveland Indians games, boxing, wrestling, and watching their Telenovelas together.

Private family arrangements have been entrusted to Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
