Larry L. Zimmerman

Larry L. Zimmerman, 73, of Wayne, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, from a long battle with his third cancer.

Larry was born March 18, 1950, in Fostoria, to Ross and Laura Zimmerman.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy (Aurand) Zimmerman; two daughters, Angie (Joel) Beachkofsky and Andrea (Nick) Brueckner; four grandchildren he was Papa to, Ella and Brady Brueckner and Chase and Ari Beachkofsky; sister, Brenda (Dude) Creeger; brothers, Bill (Judy) Zimmerman and Bob (Lisa) Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, Mike (Diane) Aurand. Larry was fortunate to be very close with his extended family of nieces and nephews and he adored his great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Laura Zimmerman; and in-laws, Bill and Marilyn Aurand.

Larry graduated from Lakota High School in 1968. He attended University of Toledo, studying Information Technology which led to his long career with OI and Libbey Glass. He played football his freshman year at UT and affectionately joked about his fond memories of being the varsity tackling dummy.

Larry was passionate about boating on his infamous LIFE IS GOOD. He was an avid fisherman, talented woodworker, and in his words "A jack of all trade, master of none." There honestly wasn't much that he could not do. Not only was he an amazing cook, but he generously shared his notorious results with others from his famous tacos, salsa, guacamole, rigatoni, apple dumplings, peanut butter pie, and dandelion wine. He could often be found helping neighbors, land or sea, or anyone with a need, big or small. That's what he enjoyed doing. His strong faith in God created a legacy that will continue to give back to those who were fortunate enough to have met him.

Visitation with Larry's family hosting will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, until the time of his funeral at 2 p.m. at Barndt Funeral Home, 121 W. South Street, Wayne, Ohio, 43466). Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
