Joyce A. LeForge

Joyce LeForge, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Good Sheperd Home, Fostoria, where she had resided the past several years.

Joyce Ann Scott was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Maysville, Kentucky, to Clarence and Carrie (Thaxton) Scott. She graduated from Minerva High School, rural Maysville. She met Edmund LeForge when he was officiating a Minerva High basketball game and ran into Joyce who was a cheerleader on the sidelines. They were married Oct. 13, 1953, in Maysville. To this union were born four children, Christopher, Scott, Danny, and Melody.

In 1963, the LeForge family moved to Fostoria. Joyce began work as a secretary at Production Credit Association in Fostoria. Over her career, she rose to become Treasurer and Vice-President of PCA of Northwest Ohio. She retired in Feb., 1989.

While living in Fostoria, Joyce was active at Wesley United Methodist Church and the Altrusia Club. Over her life, she loved shopping for antiques, singing, cooking, and always cheering for Kentucky Wildcats. Later in life, Joyce enjoyed cross stitching and reading.

Joyce is survived by two children, Chris (Carol) of Fostoria and Scott (Holly) of Akron; son-in-law, Bob Whitman of Drums, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Teri LeForge of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Elizabeth Yoder, Steven LeForge, Emily Gulley, Jon Whitman, Rebecca Whitman, Amy LeForge, Jennifer Harro, Jeffrey LeForge, Ann Johnson, Beth Kobak, Phillip Johnson, and Sabrina Craghead; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed; son, Danny; daughter, Melody; and great-granddaughter, Alexis.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, immediately followed by Joyce's funeral at 5 p.m. officiated by Pastor Scott Hall of Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will be Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, at Maysville Cemetery, 1521 Forest Avenue, Maysville, Kentucky.
