John Kirby Obituary

John D. Kirby Sr.

John Doward Kirby Sr., 86, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Catherine's Manor, Fostoria. He was born July 3, 1939, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to Eugene Lewis and Emma (Hardy) Kirby. He married Dorothy Ann Moore, March 20, 1996.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ann Kirby of Tiffin; son, John D. Kirby Jr. of Fostoria, stepson, Kenneth Moore of Tiffin; and grandchildren, Terrell (Yesenia), Braden and Trenton Kirby, and Josh, Jerrica and Joseph Moore; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and four sisters-in-law.

John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene and Walter; and sister, Dorothy.

John retired as a caregiver at Fox Run in Findlay. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fostoria. John loved watching sports, CNN and was known for being a soft-spoken, sharp-dressed man.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025, at Frist Baptist Church, 534 Lynn St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830, with Pastor Michael L. Burton Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church.
