It is with a heavy heart we learn of Jim´s passing. Betsy and I became fast friends with Jim. We shared our YMCA and Fostoria Country Club experiences over decades. I last saw Jim at the golf course late one fall about 5 years ago. We talked for about 30 minutes. Jim was always interested in how others were doing. Conversation came very easy with Jim.
Jim was everyone´s friend! An individual who exhibited grace and humility. It is a honor to call him my friend and he will be greatly missed!

Mr. Mennel´s kindness and joy for teaching will last with me forever. It´s been 30 years and I can still remember his smile as he told us jokes in class. What a wonderful person <3

Mr. Mennel was my 4th grade teacher at Longfellow back in 2000 (I believe). He was always so kind and understanding. My home life had just gone through a major change, and he always had a way of making me feel heard and important. He was a huge positive influence at that time of my life.

I'm deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. We were good friends growing up in Fostoria. He was always a special individual, kind, reserved, and with his own individual type of class. My condolences go out to the entire Mennel Family.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. I worked with Jim in the Grain Department of Mennel Milling in the early 1980s, and Jim was a great person to work for. He was a good supervisor who always helped me focus on what I did well and supported me when I made a mistake. He taught me there are three important things when a mistake is made: do you know what happened? Do you know how to fix it? Let it go. No need to keep beating yourself up. Despite the years that have passed, his guidance has continued to influence me. He was a great guy.

Mr. Mennel holds a special place in my heart. A teacher who will always be remembered for his kindness and dedication to his students. I´ll never forget our field trip to the roller rink when I was too scared to move and he took my hand and helped me get over that fear. He continually checked in on me after elementary school all the way through high school. When I moved to Florida to teach, he offered words of wisdom, while also continually checking in on me. He was truly a legend. The world was a better place because of him. Sending condolences to the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Mennel's passing, he was the best teacher that my children ever had at Fostoria schools. My older children are now 41, 39 and 36 and we still talk about Mr. Mennel and how he was a great teacher and mentor for them and all of their children he came in contact with! We need more Mr. Mennels! Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Though I only met Jim a few times, I feel like I´ve gotten to know him well through all the wisdom and stories Mike has shared over the years. His life lessons have had a lasting impact, and he´ll be remembered with respect and gratitude, especially during our rounds of golf, where his spirit will no doubt be with us. Mike will always keep his spirit and jokes alive! Especially if we happen to get a hole in one on a par three, only to tell people about our eagle on that hole to see if they get it!
