Eugene Tolbert Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Tolbert, 87, of West Millgrove, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born May 14, 1935, in Courtland, Alabama, to Jeff Pilgrim and Georgie Marie (Peebles) Tolbert. Gene married Carolyn Crawford on July 7, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; sons, Gregory (Liz) Tolbert of Harker Heights, Texas, and Ryan (Sara) Tolbert of Bloomdale; daughters, Fran (Jim) Plott of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Kimberly (Ethan) Reinhard of Fostoria, and Kelly McKelvey of Tiffin; grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Chelsie, Lindsay, Whitney, Brent, and Brice; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Colby, Jacob, Aubrey, Rylee, Coree, Peyton, Canon, Jemma, Alister, Sutter, Anneliese, and Clyde.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Georgie; brothers, Hubert Tolbert Sr. and Elmo Tolbert; and sisters, Lorine Williams, Mabel Peebles, Catherine Seem, and Helen Steiner.
Gene retired after many years as production supervisor at Modine Manufacturing, Pemberville, where they made semi radiators. He was then was a car runner for Paul Cole Motors, Fostoria. He was a member of Dillon Road Baptist Church, Fostoria, and among many hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home. Gene's celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Allen Minton officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery near West Millgrove.
Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Nursing Home or Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice.
