Dorothy L. Bowman

Dorothy L. Bowman, 95, of Maumee and formerly of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Maumee Pointe, where she resided.

She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Toledo, to Calvin R. and Uretta L. (Tracey) Harbaugh. She married William F. Bowman on July 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a Whitmer High School and Flower Hospital School of Nursing graduate. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, where she was involved with United Methodist Women and their missions. For 11 years, Dorothy also worked in the Fostoria High School cafeteria and was employed with Sears in Fostoria as well. She was a huge Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

In her leisure time, Dorothy enjoyed baking, traveling to the lake in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, and being with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Brenda (John, deceased) Eklund of Waterville, Gary (Lorene) Bowman of Curtis, Michigan, Robert (Lesa) Bowman of Milan, Michigan, James Bowman of Fostoria, and William Eric Bowman of Curtis, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Mary Ellen Janney of Marana, Arizona.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1200 Van Buren St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. Dorothy's funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor James Sharrett presiding. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

Mann-Hare Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, has been entrusted with arrangements.
