Donna Orians Obituary
Donna Louise (Buckingham) Orians, 94, formerly of Carey, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at her residence in Findlay.
Donna was born July 15, 1929, in Fostoria, to Eugene O. and Vina F. (Fruth) Buckingham. She married Eugene J. Orians on April 11, 1953, in Fostoria, and he preceded her in death in 2016.
She is survived by five children, Janet (Richard) Smith, Brian (Sue) Orians, Gary (Steven Fruetel) Orians, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Orians, and Dale (Cheryl) Orians; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Donna was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mildred E. Stagger.
A 1947 graduate of Fostoria High School, Donna worked as a secretary for AutoLite Spark Plug in Fostoria for six years. In 1973, she began work as secretary and treasurer for Grace United Methodist Church in Carey for 20 years. In addition, she volunteered at Red Cross Bloodmobiles for 45 years and holiday roadside safety breaks.
Donna was a very accomplished pianist. In addition to being a high school piano accompanist, she also accompanied Fostoria Community Choir, Carey Philharmonic Women's Choir (13 years), and Carey Ecumenical Choir (30 years). Since 1956, Donna was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Carey where she sang in the choir, played in the handbell choir, played piano, and was the assistant organist for many years.
Donna and Eugene loved to travel and they visited all 50 states, Canada, Central America, the Caribbean, London, England, and Europe.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, until the time of Donna's service at 11:30 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Carey Public Library, or Wyandot Council on Aging in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 Findlay St., Carey, Ohio, 43316.
