Donald Knaur Obituary

Donald G. Knaur

Donald G. "Don" Knaur, 77, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Dec. 5, 1946, in Marion, to John "Jack" W. Knaur and Margaret Maclean (Lingo) Knaur. He married Karen Coker of Fostoria on Dec. 2, 2000.

Don is survived by his son, Jonathan P. (Laura) Knaur; three stepgrandsons, Bennett, Judem and Roman of Worthington; daughter, Rebecca Knaur of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois; sister, Christine Hill of Port St. Lucie, Florida; niece, Sarah Burgess; four grandnieces; one grandnephew; aunt, Judy Davidson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; stepmother, Carol Knaur of Winter Park, Florida; and first wife, Peggy (Patrick) Fout of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gretchen; brother-in-law, David Hill; daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Zambito) Knaur; and one grandchild.

Don grew up in LaRue and graduated from Elgin High School in 1964. He was in one of the first graduating classes of that school. He attended Ohio Wesleyan, OSU – Marion branch, and graduated with an associate degree in computer science from Tiffin University.

Don had several jobs as a young man, but one he was definitely proud of was overseeing the design and building of numerous large pole buildings in northwest Ohio. He was a top salesman and manager of two Wickes Bldgs. He was owner of Tiffin's Help-Desk Ohio computer service business.

His love of community service led him to Tiffin Jaycees where he served as president, Fostoria and Tiffin's Lion Club, and Tiffin and Fostoria's Kiwanis. Serving his church was another way of giving back to the community and he had been a member of Ebenezer, now Faith United Methodist Church of Tiffin and Fostoria's First Presbyterian Church.

Don chose to be cremated and there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity near and dear to Don, the Pantry Plus of Seneca County, 4481 N. US 23, Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.
