Dolores Bucher Obituary

Dolores M. Bucher

Dolores Marie (Macias) "Lalie" Bucher, 88, of North Baltimore, slipped away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.

She was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Orville, to Juan and Antonia (Munoz) Macias. Her parents came from Aguascalientes and Jalpa, Zacatecas Mexico. They immigrated to the United States, raising nine children. Lalie was a proud first generation Mexican American.

She is survived by her sister, Anita "Quita" (Gary) Mueller of Godfrey, Illinois; three sons, Bill (Suzanne) Bucher of North Baltimore, Jim Bucher (Linda Kidd) of Bowling Green, and Mike (Cyndi) Bucher of North Baltimore; sister-in-law, Cory Macias; five cherished grandchildren, Cassi (Jimmy) Painter, Jordan Bucher, Lauren (Rich) Mercer, Kristan Bucher, and Aryn (Tyler) Brumbaugh; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lalie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry, Louis, Richard, Charles, and Fred; infant brother, Robert Macias; and sister, Mary Gomez.

Lalie was a secretary at North Baltimore Schools for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She also had various jobs in town and was that friendly face to help you at the local pharmacy or grocery store. She was a member of Rocky Ford Red Hat Society and loved to golf. She enjoyed her water exercise classes, attending women's basketball games at BGSU, and playing games with her family. Coming from a large family, Lalie loved gathering everyone and preparing homemade Mexican food. Anyone was welcome and there was no such thing as a stranger. Her door was always open. She was well respected and loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

At the request of Dolores, all services will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.

Memorials in her honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or online at www.stjude.org, or also in her memory to Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp Road, Bowling Green, Ohio, 43402.

That is a pretty picture of our sweet Dolores, otherwise known as "Bucher," to the school people. That is how I will remember her. We had so many good times together, as well as tearful moments. Dolores was one of the most resilient people I know, always making the best of what life's challenges faced her. She was a fine example of what grace should look like.

My deepest condolences to D's family. She was the best kind of friend to have. Even though it's been 45 years since we "hung out" together, she has a forever place in my heart. We cried together and laughed together (there were a lot more laughs than tears). She was an anchor in my life when I needed a lifeline. She gave me advice that I wish I had followed. Her boys and their families were always her foremost loves, but Dolores would be there for anyone who needed her. I will always consider Dolores a treasure in my life. I'm so very grateful to have known her, loved her, and called her my Friend. Peace be with you, sweet Friend.
