David Paxton Obituary

David J. Paxton

David J. Paxton, 61, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Fostoria, to Francis and Caroline (Hill, Paxton) Slane. He married Mary E. (Manz) Kiesel on Nov. 15, 2015, in Fostoria.

David is survived by his wife, Mary E. Paxton of Fostoria; mother, Caroline (William) Slane of Tiffin; daughters, Christy (Robert) Monroe of Dandridge, Tennessee, and Jenny Paxton of Wilmington, North Carolina; stepdaughter, Tonya (Shane) Tribble of Wichita, Kansas; stepson, James "Chris" (Tina) Kiesel of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rick Paxton of Bettsville and Jeff Paxton of Tiffin; stepsister, Buffy (Matthew) Sours of Fremont; stepbrother, Jody (Jill) Keegan of Fremont; and brothers-in-law, Tom (Verdella) Manz of Fostoria and John "Dick" Manz of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Paxton; and brother, Steven Paxton.

David was employed by Werk-Brau Co., Inc., Findlay, for over 25 years. He was a 1981 graduate of Fostoria High School and then served in U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member and former governor of Fostoria Moose Lodge #1567, receiving the Pilgrim Degree in 2012 and was also a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge #846.

David loved motorcycles and traveling with the former Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Eagle Wings Motorcycle Association, having been chapter director in both associations along with his wife, Mary. David was very set in his ways and had an unique sense of humor. He never talked bad about anyone and was a social butterfly. But most of all, he loved his family and was a wonderful father, grandfather, and stepfather.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. There will be a special reading from the Goldwing Chapter "S" at 6 p.m. and the Moose will present their service at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at the funeral home. David's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul E. Myers presiding. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, with military honors provided by United Veterans of Fostoria Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Eagle Wings Chapter S in care of the funeral home.
