Daniel Chavez, age 59, of Tucumcari, NM passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on June 15, 2024.
Daniel was born August 15, 1964, in Tucumcari, NM to Felimon and Mabel Chavez. He enjoyed working as a mechanic, listening to music, entertaining his family and friends.
His joy was his son Daniel Chavez Jr. and Shredder (his dog). He was a loving father, grandfather/great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife Stella Chavez, his parents; Father Felimon Chavez, Mother Mabel Chavez, brother Frank Chavez, brother Phillip Chavez, Son Agustin Montiel and his beloved sister-in-law Bertha Chavez.
Surviving Daniel is his son Daniel Chavez Jr., Stepdaughter Christina Rodriguez, grandchildren: Lorena Rodriguez and son Lorenzo (great-grandson), Maria Rodriguez and Stella Grace Rodriquez. Other surviving relatives are his brothers Joe Chavez and wife Verla of Portales, Sonny Chavez and wife Dorothy of Las Vegas, NV, Felimon Chavez Jr. and wife Juanita of Amarillo, TX, Alfred Chavez of Tucumcari, Robert Chavez of Tucumcari, Ruben Chavez and wife Sylvia of Tucumcari, Charlie Chavez of Tucumcari, Rocky Chavez and wife Gina of Tucumcari, Mae Hughes and husband Michael of Fort Worth, TX, Ruby Sandoval and husband Danny of Las Vegas, NV and Charlotte Chavez-Marquart and husband Scott of Tucumcari. Also surviving him are his many nieces and nephews and his wonderful dog Shredder, which is being cared for by his son Daniel. Also surviving him are many relatives and friends, one being Joe Mathis; his life-long friend and caregiver.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:00pm at Tucumcari Memorial Park, with Daniel Chavez, Jr., Rocky Chavez, Franklin Chavez, Felimon Chavez, Scott Marquart and Joe Mathis serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Charlie Chavez, Ruben Chavez, Joe Chavez, Jr. Chavez and Alfred Chavez. Cecil Chavez will be officiating at the cemetery. The Chavez brothers, Danny Sandoval and Steve Chavez will be singing Que Me Entierren Cantando, Mis Padres, Un Rinconcito En El Cielo and Un Puño De Tierra.
Family is invited to the family home of Scott and Charlotte following graveside service for refreshments and celebration of life.
