Christine Schliemann Obituary

Christine Ann (Beisner) Schliemann

Christine Ann (Beisner) "Chris" Schliemann, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in Tiffin.

She was born Sept. 27, 1941, in Tiffin, to Alma and Henry Beisner. She graduated from Columbian High School and earned a degree in Physical Therapy from Ohio State University.

After college, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met her husband of 52 years, Ulrich (Rick) Schliemann. They had two daughters and lived in Summit, New Jersey for 19 years. She and Rick then moved to Germany for his work before retiring to Palm Coast, Florida in 2004. Last year, Chris decided to move back to Ohio full time. She always missed Tiffin and was happy to finally be back home.

Chris was devoted to her family and had many interests including art history, travel, mahjong, bridge, and gardening. She worked for many years as a physical therapist in hospital and home health settings, caring for geriatric patients. She deeply cared for her family and friends who miss her dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Schliemann; granddaughter, Elise Haight; son-in-law, Brian Haight; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulrich Schliemann; daughter, Carrie Schliemann; and brothers, Henry, John, and James Beisner.

Chris' memorial service will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin.

Donations may be made to Mercy Health Foundation's St. Vincent Medical Center or Tiffin Hospital.

Christine and I worked together at Evanston Hospital. She was a PT and I was a social worker. We became good friends. One spring we went to Ormond Beach Florida Florida together and stayed with my great aunt who was called GoGo because she was very energetic in old age. Christine and I hung out with six Canadian hockey players and my great aunt had them come to her house for dinner. We sure did have good times together. I threw a shower for her when she got married. About 30 years ago she came to Chicago and visited me and my husband with her daughter. While she was in our apt she spotted someone getting into her car and robbing her. We called the police and they came but I don´t remember much beyond that. I am sad she is gone.

Dear Anna, Chris and I were bridge partners and book club members for a number of years. I always admired her intellect. I am so sorry for all your losses. May God watch over you and may your family rest in peace. Susan
