Cheryl Ann Masterson Mattingly, 76, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Loretto. She was born October 22, 1948 in Marion County. She worked as a Dietary Aide with the Loretto Motherhouse for 43 years. She loved everyone and was a mom to many. She will be remembered for her bright light, her smile, and her infectious laugh. She was always there for those she loved and strangers alike as she walked the path of her faith without hesitation or question, being a guiding light and safe harbor for anyone in need of prayer, a hug, a laugh, or anything else within her power. She touched so many lives and never asked for anything in return. She truly led a Christ like life and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, co-workers, and church family. She may have departed from this Earth but her imprint and impact on so many moral lives will continue to guide and comfort others for generations to come.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Alton “Big L.” Mattingly who died March 18, 2005; her parents, Richard Nolan Masterson, Sr. and Ruth Marie Cheshire Masterson; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Reynolds and infant Rebecca Masterson; one brother, Joseph Donald Masterson.
