Carl Schlachter Obituary
Carl Schlachter, 69, of New Riegel and Florida, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, in Florida.
He was born April 4, 1954, in Tiffin, to Paul and Regina (Filliater) Schlachter. He married Concetta "Tina" Vicidomina on Nov. 23, 2000, and she preceded him in death Sept. 25, 2023. Carl was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and retired from Honeywell in Fostoria.
He is survived by his sons, Brad (Jacqui) Schlachter of Findlay, Brian (Rachel) Schlachter of Lexington, South Carolina, and Kevin (Kendra) Schlachter of Burgoon; daughters, Melissa (Brandon) Snyder of Tiffin and Sheila (Jon) Thomas of Findlay; stepson, Shawn (Jessica) Earl of Fostoria; stepdaughter, Katie (Mike) Kozak of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and sisters, Paula "Susie" (Kurt) Dunn of Tiffin and Becky (Tom) Kreais of Fostoria.
In 2014, Carl and Tina moved to Florida and came back to New Riegel during the warmer Ohio months. He was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel, where he was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed carpentry and construction projects, especially helping his children with any of their projects. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity on several blitz builds. He loved spending time with his grandchildren as much and as often as he could.
Carl's funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424 with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Frenchtown.
Visitation for friends and family will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, and 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment or FACT of Seneca County.
