Wanda (Dunn) Holladay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2025.
Wanda Estalene (Dunn) Holladay, 92, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at Beehive Homes in Herriman, Utah. She was born November 13, 1932, in Nampa, Idaho, to Joseph and Elvia Dunn, the last of five children.

Wanda spent the first half of her life in Nampa, where she attended local schools and graduated from Nampa High School. During her high school years, she was honored as the Lettuce Bowl Queen (Homecoming Queen) and formed many lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout her life. Later, she moved to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah where she lived for the remainder of her life.

She married Maurice "Bud" Painter, and together they were blessed with four children. Wanda later married Dan Glen Holladay. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four siblings, and two grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her four children: Pamela (Keith) Cox, Rex (Susan) Painter, Peggy Painter, and Sharon (Bob) Gourley. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She was "Grandma Wanda" to not only her own grandchildren and great grandchildren, but also to all of their friends. Everyone loved Grandma Wanda!

A devoted mother and grandmother, Wanda was her children's biggest cheerleader. She rarely missed a sporting event, recital, or performance, and her family knew she was always in the stands cheering them on.

Throughout her life, Wanda dedicated herself to serving others including her family and others she associated with. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 55 years. She served faithfully in many callings, and especially loved working with the youth. She shared her love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through teaching the young women at church and later as she served a mission in the California Arcadia Mission and then as a part-time hostess/usher at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

Wanda's generous heart, fun loving personality, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her family will hold a private memorial service to honor Wanda. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the University of Utah's Body Donor Program at Anatomy Body Donor Memorial Fund.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones who passed before her and that her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to bless generations to come. Mom, you will always be our sunshine. We love you a "bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."
