Robert Allen Obituary

Robert Lee Allen, 66, of Petersburg, Virginia, was the second son born to the late James Allen, Sr. and Alberta “Poop” Allen on December 3, 1959. He departed this life on November 25, 2025, at HCA Virginia TriCities Hospital, Hopewell, Virginia.

Robert, affectionately known as “Billy”, was educated in the Petersburg Public School System. He loved Petersburg where he lived his whole life. He worked as a butcher for several different stores until he retired. He was known for being the “meat man” at Try Me Grocery. During his retirement, he worked at Southern Food Services on Fort Lee Army Base until his death.

Billy loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed going fishing, cooking, and just having a good time. He will truly be missed.

Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his son, Delqukis “Dude” Ruffin.

Billy leaves to cherish his memories his brother, James Allen, Jr. (Sherrill); devoted friend, Carmalessia Bradley; bonus children, Dondelprecio, Damion and Delveccio Ruffin, Asjia Bradley, Monique Simms and Daman Vaughan;  a host of grandchildren; three nieces and four nephews; four great nieces; special friends, Darrow “DJ” Burnette, Ricky Tyler, Wilbert Rob, JJ and Vincent “Duc” Perry; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, VA, Rev. Dr. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
